Join us Wednesday, March 12 at 6 p.m. CT / 7 p.m. ET for “The 1990s: An Extraordinary Era in Film,” a discussion about how American cinema in 1999 shaped and reflected the broader cultural conversation. New York Times culture and arts critic Wesley Morris will explore what made American film exceptional in the 1990s – through much of the Clinton administration – and the lasting influence of ’90s films on American popular culture. Writer, actor, and producer Graham Gordy, who serves as Vice President of the Arkansas Cinema Society, will moderate the conversation. From “Election” to “The Blair Witch Project,” with several on-screen Presidents (think “The American President” and “Nixon”), Morris and Gordy will recount this amazing era in American film. Presented in partnership with the Arkansas Cinema Society. This program is held in conjunction with our current temporary exhibit “Commanding the Screen: The American Presidency in Film and Television,” which closes March 31.
